Yes, mouse rage. An article over at the EETimes asks Are you suffering from ‘Mouse Rage Syndrome?’, which isn’t really something I’d considered before.
It seems some people get ‘uptight’, shall we say, when visiting badly designed websites or websites which don’t respond quickly enough. The study, identified by the “Social Issues Research Centre in the United Kingdom” (not one I’m particularly familiar with!) displayed what they considered to be a ‘perfect web site’ and then (and I’m quoting here) a collection of “crazy graphics and slow-loading pages”. Well then I think it’s clear to see why people might have difficulty after being forced into an epileptic seizure.
As I’ve been studying Human Computer Interaction as part of my degree, this sort of thing interests me a lot, thus when no further information about the graphics or web pages was given, I found this highly dissapointing. It seems obvious that the results confirm what everyone knew anyway - that badly designed websites on slow server turn away visitors.
