Frost*, a new progressive rock band offering this year, have decided to call it a day.
I’m gutted.
Since Frost*’s first album, Milliontown, was released only a few months ago, I’ve listened to it almost every other day. It’s a breathtakingly good album of classic prog concepts blended with new ideas and some highly creative music. Even my friends who despise prog rock have found themselves tapping their feet to Frost* because it’s catchy, new and accessible, yet still seems to give you something extra with each listen. That’s what good music should do.
Jem, the main creative force behind the band, has other commitments, such as his children and career (as Frost* was simply a side project), so he’s clearly made the right decision, but I’m still mourning the loss of a band that I think has the potential to achieve great things.
If you’re interested, check out the Frost* website and download some samples. They’ll be supporting The Flower Kings at Scala, London in December… I’ve already got my tickets, but it’ll be strange to say ‘hello’ and then ‘goodbye’ all in the same evening.
